Grief coaching in Huntington Beach, Orange County & online

You may be grieving a person, a relationship, your health, or the life you expected. You don’t need the right words. There is room for your story here.

Why The Outer Circle?

Like the rings of a tree, our lives carry the marks of what we have experienced — growth, change, wounds, loss, and time.

We all have an inner circle of people closest to us, but our outer circles — our communities, neighbors, groups, and shared connections can be just as important.

Through community-based, task-based and nature-based grief coaching, The Outer Circle helps you find practical ways to carry grief as part of your story while continuing to live, connect, and grow.

Loss can take many forms: death, estrangement, changing health, leaving a career, losing a business or faith, or a future that won’t happen. Your loss counts here, even when others cannot see it.

A moment to reflect: What do you miss that other people might not realize you’re missing? You can sit with the question, write a few words, or simply pause. You do not have to share your answer.

Grief Doesn’t Always Look Like Grief.

Caleb David Roddy, founder and certified grief coach at The Outer Circle.

Meet Caleb

I didn’t set out to become a grief coach. My own experience with grief began after losing two businesses I had spent more than a decade building. Soon afterward, I experienced the deaths of several people I loved.

Those losses looked very different, but I began to recognize something they shared: grief can follow any experience that changes the life we thought we were going to have.

That realization began a several-year search for practical ways to live alongside loss—not simply move past it. That journey eventually led me to grief coaching and to creating The Outer Circle.

Ways to Work Together

Individual Grief Coaching

One-on-one support for navigating loss in a way that fits your life. Together, we’ll use practical tools to help make space for grief while continuing to live, connect, and move forward.

Nature-Based Grief Coaching

Time outdoors can create space to slow down, reflect, and experience grief differently. Through walking, reflection, and intentional connection with nature, we’ll explore ways to carry grief as part of your continuing story.

Groups & Community

Grief can feel isolating, but it doesn’t have to be carried alone. Group experiences create opportunities to connect, share, and find support within the wider community—the outer circles that can be just as meaningful as the people closest to us.

Grief doesn’t have to be something you leave behind. It can become part of the life you continue to build.

The Outer Circle is built on the belief that grief is part of the human experience—not a problem to solve, but something we can learn to carry with intention, connection, and purpose.
