You are more than the role the world knows.
Grief coaching for executives, athletes, actors, and musicians
When your work becomes part of your identity, a change in that work can reach into every corner of your life. The title, the team, the stage, the company, the routine—each can hold relationships, purpose, and a sense of belonging.
The Outer Circle specializes in supporting people through loss, including the loss of identity, role, and an expected future. Life Beyond the Role brings that focus to people whose responsibilities, performance, or public visibility can make it difficult to find space for their own experience.
You deserve a place to be a person, with room for what matters to you beyond achievement and expectations.
When life changes behind the public role
You may be preparing for a transition, living through one, or finding that its effects continue long after everyone else expects you to have moved on.
Executives and business owners
Selling or closing a company, leaving leadership, navigating succession, or stepping into retirement can change far more than your schedule. Together, we can explore the relationships, responsibilities, and sense of purpose connected to your work—and what you want to carry forward.
Athletes
Stepping away from competition, adjusting to a changed role, or living with a change in ability can reshape daily life. Coaching offers space to acknowledge what mattered about the game, rebuild routines and connection, and explore who you are beyond performance.
Actors, musicians, and performers
Career interruptions, the end of a production or tour, changes in opportunity, and shifting creative direction can affect identity and belonging. We can work on staying connected to your values, relationships, and creativity while your professional life changes.
Personal loss can also happen while professional demands continue. Bereavement, relationship changes, estrangement, and caregiving are welcome here, too.
A practical approach to loss and identity
Our work begins with your experience and the changes you want support navigating. There is no requirement to share a public story or turn your loss into a lesson.
Together, we can:
- Name what has changed and what feels missing.
- Make room for mixed feelings, including relief, uncertainty, sadness, and hope.
- Develop ways to respond to everyday reminders of a former role or life.
- Rebuild daily structure and relationships beyond professional expectations.
- Identify values and interests that can guide meaningful next steps.
Sessions combine conversation with practical reflection and activities you can use between meetings. Nature-based sessions are available in Orange County and Los Angeles County, alongside virtual sessions worldwide.
Space for the person behind the role
You choose where we begin and what you are ready to discuss. During the consultation, we can talk through your preferences for communication, scheduling, and any involvement of an assistant or representative. We will also discuss privacy practices and their limits before beginning work together.

Questions about grief coaching and life transitions
Who is Life Beyond the Role for?
Life Beyond the Role is for executives, business owners, athletes, actors, musicians, and other high-profile clients navigating personal loss or a change in professional identity. You do not need to be publicly known to work with The Outer Circle.
Can coaching help with loss after retirement or a career change?
Coaching offers a place to explore what a former role meant to you, what has changed, and how you want to build daily routines, relationships, and purpose. This can include leaving executive leadership, selling a business, retiring from sport, or moving through a creative career transition.
Do you offer in-person sessions in Los Angeles County?
Yes. The Outer Circle offers in-person and nature-based sessions in Los Angeles County and Orange County, with virtual sessions available worldwide. Discuss your preferred location and scheduling needs during a free consultation.
Can an assistant, agent, or adviser make an inquiry?
Yes. Representatives can contact Caleb about coaching or workshops. An initial inquiry only needs a brief description of the support being explored; please avoid sharing another person’s sensitive personal details. Communication preferences and privacy practices are discussed before coaching begins.
Is grief coaching therapy?
No. The Outer Circle provides nonclinical grief coaching and education, with practical reflection, activities, and support for connection. It does not provide psychotherapy, diagnosis, medical treatment, or crisis care.
