A Ten-Minute Grief Walk: Make a Little Room for What You Carry

You do not need to feel better by the end of this walk. This is simply a little time to notice what you are carrying and what you might need next.

Before you begin

Choose a familiar, comfortable place. Walk, wheel, sit outdoors, or look through a window. Change the timing or stop whenever you wish.

Minutes 1–2: Arrive

Let your pace be your own. Notice the ground beneath you and one thing you can see. There is no special way you need to breathe.

Minutes 3–5: Notice

Choose one small detail: light on a leaf, a sound nearby, the shape of a cloud. If thoughts of your loss come, you do not have to push them away. You can notice the world around you and miss someone at the same time.

Minutes 6–8: Make room

If it feels useful, complete this sentence silently: “Today, I am carrying…” You can name a feeling, a memory, a question, or nothing at all.

Minutes 9–10: Return

Ask: “What is one small thing I need next?” A drink of water, a meal, rest, company, or a quieter afternoon all count.

A moment to reflect

What did I notice?
What am I carrying today?
What is one small next step?

You can write your answers, tell someone you trust, or keep them to yourself. This optional reflection is not mental health treatment.
